APPLICANT REQUESTS THAT: 

 

Her records be corrected to show she reenlisted for a period of 
three (3) years rather than six (6) years.

APPLICANT CONTENDS THAT: 

 

Had she known she was eligible for a reenlistment bonus if she 
reenlisted for three years instead of six, she would have 
reenlisted for a period of only three years. 

 

In support of her appeal, the applicant provides copies of the 
2008 Air National Guard (ANG) Incentive Program guidance, 
pertinent local unit manning information and two letters of 
support.

STATEMENT OF FACTS: 

 

Applicant began her military career on 29 Jan 85. She has been 
progressively promoted to the grade of technical sergeant 

(TSgt/E-6). In April 2008, she reenlisted in the Ohio ANG (OHANG) 
for a period of six years. She is currently serving in the OHANG 
and has over 17 years of satisfactory service towards a Reserve 
retirement at age 60.

AIR FORCE EVALUATION: 

 

This application was forwarded to the National Guard Bureau (NGB) 
on 11 Oct 08 for an advisory opinion. As of this date, NGB has 
failed to provide one.

THE BOARD CONCLUDES THAT: 

 

1. The applicant has exhausted all remedies provided by existing 
law or regulations. 

 

2. The application was timely filed. 

 

3. Sufficient relevant evidence has been presented to demonstrate 
the existence of error or injustice. The applicant’s contention 
she was not properly advised regarding her entitlement to a 
reenlistment bonus is supported by her commanders. Having no 
basis to question the integrity of these individuals, we recommend 
the records be corrected as indicated below.

THE BOARD RECOMMENDS THAT: 

 

The pertinent military records of the Department of the Air Force 
relating to APPLICANT be corrected to show that on 26 April 2008, 
she reenlisted for a period of three (3) years rather than six (6) 
years, thereby entitling her to receive a reenlistment bonus in 
the amount of $7,500.
