The applicant requests reconsideration of an earlier request to correct his DD Form 214 (Report of Transfer or Discharge) to show award of the Purple Heart. 2. The applicant states, in effect, that he was wounded in action on 4 April 1967 and was later awarded the Purple Heart at the Letterman General Hospital by a general officer. 3. The applicant provides orders and an award certificate for the Purple Heart and two photographs. CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE: 1. Incorporated herein by reference are military records which were summarized in the previous consideration of the applicant's case by the Army Board for Correction of Military Records (ABCMR) in Docket Number AR20050013348 on 29 June 2006. 2. The applicant provided a copy of Headquarters, 2d Surgical Hospital (Mobile Army) General Orders Number 32, dated 5 April 1967, which show he received the Purple Heart for wounds received in action on 4 April 1967 in Vietnam. He also provided an award certificate for the Purple Heart and two photographs of him being awarded the Purple Heart. 3. The applicant’s submissions are new evidence which will be considered by the Board. 4. The applicant was inducted on 6 April 1966. He served as a light weapons infantryman in Vietnam and was released from active duty on 17 January 1968. 5. The applicant’s DD Form 214 does not show the Purple Heart as an authorized award. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS: Orders show the applicant received the Purple Heart. Therefore, his DD Form 214 should be corrected to show this award.
