THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE: 1. The applicant requests correction of his DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty) to show award of the Combat Infantryman Badge. 2. The applicant states, in effect, that the award was left off his records due to an administrative oversight. 3. The applicant provides a copy of his DD Form 214, dated 20 November 2005, and a copy of Permanent Orders awarding him the Combat Infantryman Badge, in support of his application. CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE: 1. The applicant's records show he enlisted in the Wisconsin Army National Guard (WIARNG) for a period of 8 years on 30 April 2001. He subsequently entered active duty, completed basic combat and advanced individual training, and was awarded military occupational specialty (MOS) 43M (Fabric Repairer). 2. On 13 June 2003, the applicant successfully completed the Army National Guard resident course for infantry training and was subsequently awarded MOS 11B (Infantryman) on 8 July 2003. 3. On 20 June 2004, the applicant was ordered to active duty in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and subsequently served in Iraq from 24 November 2004 to 29 October 2005. He was honorably released from active duty and reverted back to his ARNG status on 20 November 2005. 4. Item 13 (Decoration, Medals, Badges, Citations and Campaign Ribbons Awarded or Authorized) of the applicant's DD Form 214 shows he was awarded the Army Service Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with “M” Device, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Iraq Campaign Medal. Item 13 does not show award of the Combat Infantryman Badge. 5. Headquarters, 42nd Infantry Division, Forward Operations Base Danger, Tikrit, Iraq, Permanent Orders 281-87, dated 8 October 2005, show the applicant was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge for actively engaging or being engaged by the enemy on 1 January 2005. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS: Permanent orders awarded the applicant the Combat Infantryman Badge which is not shown on his records; therefore, he is entitled to correction of his records to show this award.
