IN THE CASE OF: BOARD DATE: 26 August 2008 DOCKET NUMBER: AR20080008564 THE BOARD CONSIDERED THE FOLLOWING EVIDENCE: 1. Application for correction of military records (with supporting documents provided, if any). 2. Military Personnel Records and advisory opinions (if any). THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE: 1. The applicant requests correction of Items 4a (Grade, Rate or Rank) and 4b (Pay Grade) of his DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge From Active Duty) with effective date of 30 May 2006. 2. The applicant states his DD Form 214 shows his rank as Private First Class (PFC/E03) when he was actually a Specialist (SPC/E04). 3. The applicant provides his DD Form 214 and a page from his Integrated Personnel Electronic Records Management (iPERMS) record. CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE: 1. The applicant's records are contained on iPERMS and show he enlisted in the US Army Reserve for 8 years on 30 December 2003. He entered active duty for training on 21 January 2004 and was awarded military occupational specialty (MOS) 63J (Quartermaster & Chemical Equipment Repairer). He was released from active duty for training on/about 18 June 2004. 2. The applicant was ordered to active duty in support of Operation Enduring Freedom on 15 January 2005. He served in Afghanistan from 23 April 2005 through 23 April 2006. He was released from active duty on 30 May 2006. 3. The applicant's iPERMS record shows he was promoted to SPC on 20 June 2005. There is no indication in iPERMS that he was ever reduced for any reason. 4. The applicant's DD Form 214 shows his rank as PFC, his grade as E03, and his effective date of pay grade (Item 12h) as 20 December 2004. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS: 1. The applicant's record clearly shows he was promoted to SPC on 20 June 2005, and that he was not subsequently reduced for any reason. 2.
