THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE:

1.  The applicant requests correction of items 4a (Grade, Rate or Rank), 4b (Pay Grade) and 12i (Effective Date of Pay Grade) on his DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty).

2.  The applicant states, in effect, prior to his discharge he was promoted to specialist/E-4 on 3 January 2010.  His Enlisted Record Brief (ERB) shows this promotion. 

3.  The applicant provides:

* ERB

CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE:

1.  The applicant enlisted in the Regular Army on 3 January 2008 and trained as a satellite communications systems operator/maintainer.  On 7 January 2010, he was honorably discharged for a condition, not a disability.  

2.  Item 4a on the applicant's DD Form 214 shows the entry "PFC" [private first class].  Item 4b on his DD Form 214 shows the entry "E03."  Item 12i on his DD Form 214 shows the entry "2008 01 03" [3 January 2008]. 

3.  Records at the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) show the applicant was an E-4 from 3 January 2010 through 7 January 2010.
4.  In support of his claim, the applicant provided his ERB which shows he was promoted to E-4 on 3 January 2010 in Section III (Service Data).

DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS:

The DFAS information and the entry on the applicant's ERB which show the applicant was an E-4 effective 3 January 2010 are accepted as sufficient evidence on which to amend items 4a, 4b, and 12i on his DD Form 214.

BOARD DETERMINATION/RECOMMENDATION:

The Board determined that the evidence presented was sufficient to warrant a recommendation for relief.  As a result, the Board recommends that all Department of the Army records of the individual concerned be corrected by:

	a.  deleting the entries in items 4a, 4b, and 12i on his DD Form 214;

	b.  adding the entry "SPC" in item 4a on his DD Form 214;

	c.  adding the entry "E-4" in item 4b; and

	d.  adding the entry "2010 01 03" in item 12i on his DD Form 214.
