Military Personnel Records and advisory opinions (if any). THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE: 1. The applicant requests the Army Commendation Medal (ARCOM) be added to his DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty). 2. The applicant states: * The separation award is not listed in item 13 (Decorations, Medals, Badges, Citations and Campaign Ribbons Awarded or Authorized) of his DD Form 214 * The orders for the award were not turned into the office in time 3. The applicant provides: * DA Form 638 (Recommendation for Award) * Permanent orders for the ARCOM * DD Form 214 CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE: 1. The applicant enlisted in the Regular Army on 5 January 2005 for a period of 4 years. He completed his training and was awarded military occupational specialty 88N (traffic management coordinator). He served in Iraq from 7 October 2005 to 18 September 2006. On 31 May 2007, he was honorably discharged for immediate reenlistment. He reenlisted on 1 June 2007 for a period of 3 years. He served in Bulgaria from 20 August 2008 to 28 October 2008. On 1 June 2010, he extended his enlistment for a period of 3 months. On 12 August 2010, he retired by reason of permanent disability. 2. Item 13 of his DD Form 214 does not show the ARCOM as an authorized award. 3. Permanent Orders Number 162-02, dated 30 June 2010, show he received the ARCOM for meritorious service during the period 11 July 2005 to 30 June 2010. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS: Permanent orders show he received the ARCOM. His DD Form 214 should be corrected to show this award.
