THE BOARD CONSIDERED THE FOLLOWING EVIDENCE:

1.  Application for correction of military records (with supporting documents provided, if any).

2.  Military Personnel Records and advisory opinions (if any).


THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE:

1.  The applicant requests a second award of the Army Commendation Medal (ARCOM) be added to her DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty).

2.  The applicant states:

* her expiration term of service (ETS) award was not approved until three weeks after her ETS date
* the award was placed in her military record two months later
* she did not receive the award until January 2012 

3.  The applicant provides:

* DD Form 214
* Orders for the ARCOM for the period 27 July 2006 to 10 August 2007
* Orders for the ARCOM for the period 24 November 2009 to 30 June 2011 

CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE:

1.  The applicant enlisted in the Regular Army on 19 September 2002, she served as a human resources specialist and military police, and she was honorably discharged on 9 April 2011 for completion of required active service.

2.  Her DD Form 214 shows, among other awards, one award of the ARCOM. 

3.  She provides orders, dated 12 July 2007, which show she received the ARCOM for the period 27 July 2006 to 10 August 2007.

4.  She provides orders, dated 27 April 2011, which show she received the ARCOM for the period 24 November 2009 to 30 June 2011.

DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS:

The applicant's DD Form 214 shows one award of the ARCOM, but orders show she received two awards of the ARCOM.  Therefore, her DD Form 214 should be corrected to show two awards of the ARCOM.

BOARD DETERMINATION/RECOMMENDATION:

The Board determined that the evidence presented was sufficient to warrant a recommendation for relief.  As a result, the Board recommends that all Department of the Army records of the individual concerned be corrected by deleting the entry "ARMY COMMENDATION MEDAL" from her DD Form 214 and replacing it with the entry "Army Commendation Medal (2nd Award)."
