IN THE CASE OF: BOARD DATE: 11 February 2014 DOCKET NUMBER: AR20130010720 THE BOARD CONSIDERED THE FOLLOWING EVIDENCE: 1. Application for correction of military records (with supporting documents provided, if any). 2. Military Personnel Records and advisory opinions (if any). THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE: 1. The applicant requests, in effect, that he be assigned a reentry eligibility (RE) code for his period of active service from 19 August 2009 to 1 February 2010 and for his period of U.S. Army Reserve (USAR) service. 2. The applicant states he was not assigned an RE code. 3. The applicant provides: * DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty) with a separation date of 1 February 2010 * Headquarters, 81st Regional Support Command, Fort Jackson, SC, Orders 12-158-00075, dated 6 June 2012 CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE: 1. On 13 May 2009, he enlisted in the USAR. He was ordered to initial active duty for training effective 19 August 2009. 2. He completed the training requirements and he was awarded military occupational specialty 92A (Automated Logistical Specialist). 3. On 1 February 2010, he was released from active duty training by reason of completion of required active service. Block 27 (Reentry code) of his DD Form 214 contains the entry NA (not applicable). 4. Army Regulation 635-5 (Separation Documents) states RE codes are not applicable to Reserve Component Soldiers being separated for other than cause. The entry in Block 27 in these cases would be NA. 5. On 11 June 2012, he was discharged from the USAR by reason of unsatisfactory participation in the Ready Reserve. His discharge was characterized as under other than honorable conditions. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS: 1. He was not released from active duty for cause. He was released from active duty due completion of a period of active duty training. The correct entry in Block 27 of his DD Form 214 for this period is NA. Therefore, his DD Form 214 is correct. 2. Upon discharge from the USAR an RE code is not assigned. 3. In view of the above, there is no basis for granting relief in this case.
