Military Personnel Records and advisory opinions (if any). THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE: 1. The applicant requests correction of item 14 (Military Education) of his DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty) to show the Sniper Course. 2. The applicant states the Additional Skill Identifier (ASI) B4 is listed in item 11 (Primary Specialty) of his DD Form 214; therefore, the Sniper Course must also be listed in item 14 of this DD Form 214. 3. The applicant provides copies of his Sniper School orders and diploma and DD Form 214. CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE: 1. The applicant enlisted in the Regular Army on 15 March 2006 and he held military occupational specialty (MOS) 11B (infantryman). 2. He provided copies of the following: * Orders 195-016, dated 15 July 2010, reassigning him to attend Sniper School from 27 August to 10 September 2010 * Sniper Course diploma, dated 24 September 2010 3. He was released from active duty on 1 April 2013. His DD Form 214 lists in: * Item 13 - 11B10 B4 Infantryman * Item 14 - Combat Life Savers Course, 1 Week, 2011 4. A review of the U.S. Army Infantry School, Fort Benning, website specifies the course length for the Sniper Course is 5 weeks. 5. Army Regulation 635-5 (Separation Documents), in effect at the time, prescribed the separation documents that must be prepared for Soldiers on retirement, discharge, release from active duty service, or control of the Active Army. It established standardized policy for preparing and distributing the DD Form 214. The regulation stated item 14 would list formal in-service (full-time attendance) training courses successfully completed during the period of service covered by the DD Form 214; and title, length in weeks, and year completed. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS: The evidence of record confirms the applicant graduated from the Sniper Course on 24 September 2010.
