The applicant's DD Form 214 shows he was honorably released from active duty on 28 December 2013 based on completion of required active service. He had completed 4 years, 4 months, and 11 days of net active service. It also shows in item 14 (Military Education): Combatives Level 1, 1 Week, 2009. 4. In support of his application the applicant provides the following documents: * ARNG, Warrior Training Center (WTC), Certificate of Graduation, that shows he completed the Ranger Training Assessment Course, Class 099-12, at Fort Benning, GA, on 20 July 2012 * U.S. Army Infantry School, Diploma, that shows he completed the Ranger Course at Fort Benning, GA, on 21 September 2012 * Headquarters, U.S Army Maneuver Center of Excellence, Fort Benning, GA, Permanent Orders 262-42, dated 18 September 2012, that awarded him the Ranger Tab, on 21 September 2012 5. The Army Training Requirements and Resources System shows: a. The Ranger Training Assessment Course (commonly referred to as the Pre-Ranger Course) consists of 14 days of training conducted at the ARNG WTC, Fort Benning, GA. The purpose of the course is to prepare Soldiers to succeed at the U.S. Army Ranger School. The first week is designed to mirror the first week of the Ranger Course. The second week is designed to coach, teach, and mentor students during the patrol phase of the course. b. The U.S. Army's Ranger Course consists of 20 days of training conducted by the 75th Ranger Regiment at Fort Benning, GA. The purpose of the course is to prepare Army officers and enlisted Soldiers in combat arms related functional skills. The course teaches the fundamentals of small unit leadership and patrolling. 6. Army Regulation 635-5 (Personnel Separations - Separation Documents), in effect at the time, prescribes the separation documents that must be prepared for Soldiers on retirement, discharge, or release from active duty service or control of the Active Army. It also establishes standardized policy for preparing and distributing the DD Form 214. a. Chapter 2 contains guidance on the preparation of the DD Form 214. Table 2-1 (DD Form 214 Preparation Instructions) contains item-by-item instructions for completing the DD Form 214. b. It shows for item 14, from the ERB, list formal in-service (full-time attendance) training courses successfully completed during the period of service covered by title, length in weeks, and year completed. This information is to assist the Soldier after separation in job placement and counseling; therefore, training courses for combat skills will not be listed. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS: 1. The applicant contends that his DD Form 214 should be corrected to show all of his military education. 2. The evidence of record shows the applicant completed the following training courses during the period of service under review – * Ranger Training Assessment Course * Ranger Course 3. His DD Form 214 shows the Combatives Level 1 course; however, it does not show the – * Ranger Training Assessment Course * Ranger Course 4. Therefore, in view of the fact that the Combatives Level 1 course is recorded in item 14 of the applicant's DD Form 214, it would be appropriate to correct his DD Form 214 by adding the training courses for combat skills that were omitted.
