THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE: 1. The applicant requests reconsideration of his earlier request to show he qualified as Marksman with the M14A2 (Automatic Rifle). 2. The applicant states the basic M14 was modified as the M14A2 for use as an automatic rifle with bipod. The weapon also had a device on the stock that went over the shoulder to help control the rifle when in fully automatic mode. 3. The applicant provides copies of: * Army Board for Correction of Military Records (ABCMR) Record of Proceedings AR20140003754, dated 2 December 2014 * Special Orders Number 247, Fort Dix, NJ, dated 23 November 1966 * Special Orders Number 12, Fort Dix, NJ, dated 18 January 1967 CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE: 1. Incorporated herein by reference are military records which were summarized in the previous consideration of the applicant's case by the ABCMR in Docket Number AR20140003754 on 2 December 2014. 2. A review of the original Record of Proceedings revealed that Special Orders Number 12 provided by the applicant were not considered. Therefore, it is new evidence that requires Board consideration. 3. U.S. Army Training Center Infantry Special Orders Number 12, Fort Dix, NJ, dated 18 January 1967 announced the applicant’s qualification with the M14A2 (Automatic Rifle) as Marksman. His score was 27. 4. Army Regulation 600-8-22 (Military Awards) provides a marksmanship qualification badge for automatic rifle qualification as an Expert, Sharpshooter, or Marksman. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS: 1. The applicant contends that his DD Form 214 should be corrected to show he qualified as Marksman with the M14A2 (Automatic Rifle). 2. Special orders show the applicant qualified as Marksman with the M14A2. Therefore, his DD Form 214 should be corrected to add award of the Marksman Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Automatic Rifle Bar.
