BOARD DATE: 17 December 2015 DOCKET NUMBER: AR20150005662 THE BOARD CONSIDERED THE FOLLOWING EVIDENCE: 1. Application for correction of military records (with supporting documents provided, if any). 2. Military Personnel Records and advisory opinions (if any). THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE: 1. The applicant requests reconsideration of his previous request for correction of his DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty) to show he served in Iraq from 15 February to 29 April 2009 and in Afghanistan from 30 April 2009 to 9 February 2010. 2. As a new request, he requests, in effect, correction of his DD Form 214 to show he held military occupational specialty (MOS) 12B (Combat Engineer) for more than "00 years and 00 months." 3. The applicant states he served in the Army for 2 years and 11 months and initially deployed to Iraq on 15 February 2009 and then departed Iraq for deployment to Afghanistan on 29 April 2009. 4. The applicant provides his DD Form 214, Army Discharge Review Board (ADRB) Case Report and Directive for AR20110012062 with cover letter, orders, DA Form 638 (Recommendation for Award), and three certificates. CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE: 1. With respect to his request for reconsideration of his previous request to show the correct dates of service in Iraq and Afghanistan, his previous request was granted by the Board in ABCMR Docket Number AR20140005355, dated 28 October 2014. On 12 December 2014, a DD Form 215 (Correction to DD Form 214) was issued that corrected item 18 (Remarks) of his DD Form 214 to show he served in Iraq from 15 February through 29 April 29 and in Afghanistan from 30 April 2009 through 9 February 2010. As the correction has already been made, this portion of his request will not be addressed further in this Record of Proceedings (ROP). 2. The applicant enlisted in the Regular Army on 10 April 2008. On 16 April 2008, he was assigned to the 35th (Trainee) Engineer Battalion, Fort Leonard Wood, MO, for basic combat training (10 weeks) and advanced individual training (AIT) in MOS 12B (6 weeks). He successfully completed AIT and was awarded MOS 12B. He would have completed AIT on or about 7 August 2008. 3. On 14 August 2008, he was assigned to the 569th Engineer Mobility Company, Fort Carson, CO in MOS 12B. He was discharged on 8 March 2011. 4. Item 11 (Primary Specialty - List number, title, and years and months in specialty; list additional specialty numbers and titles involving periods of one or more years) of the DD Form 214 he was issued contains the entry 12B1O Combat Engineer - 00 years, 00 months. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS: The evidence of record shows the applicant completed AIT in MOS 12B on or about 7 August 2008. At the time of his discharge on 8 March 2011, he would have held this MOS for 2 years and 7 months; however, his DD Form 214 does not show the time he spent in this MOS. As a result, the Board recommends that all Department of the Army records of the individual concerned be corrected by amending item 11 of his DD Form 214 by deleting the entry 00 years, 00 months and replacing it with the entry 2 years, 7 months. _________X______________ CHAIRPERSON I certify that herein is recorded the true and complete record of the proceedings of the Army Board for Correction of Military Records in this case.
