RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS AIR FORCE BOARD FOR CORRECTION OF MILITARY RECORDS IN THE MATTER OF: DOCKET NUMBER: BC-2012-03340 COUNSEL: NONE HEARING DESIRED: NO ________________________________________________________________ APPLICANT REQUESTS THAT: Her Fitness Assessment (FA) dated 28 Jun 2012, be removed from the Air Force Fitness Management System (AFFMS). ________________________________________________________________ APPLICANT CONTENDS THAT: She was not adequately accommodated for a medical condition prior to taking the FA which resulted in an unsatisfactory FA score. A medical evaluation determined that she should have been exempt from the cardio and the sit-up components of the FA. The applicant’s complete submission, with attachments, is at Exhibit A. ________________________________________________________________ STATEMENT OF FACTS: The applicant is currently serving in the Regular Air Force in the grade of staff sergeant (SSgt, E-5). ________________________________________________________________ THE AIR FORCE EVALUATION: AFPC/DPSIM recommends partial approval. DPSIM states the applicant provided the additional documentation requested per their 16 Aug 2012 memorandum. DPSIM states the cardio and sit- up components of her FA dated 28 Jun 2012, should reflect exempt in the AFFMS. Based on the exemptions the applicant’s overall fitness assessment score will now reflect a composite score of 95.33 percent (Excellent). The complete DPSIM evaluation is at Exhibit B. ________________________________________________________________ APPLICANT'S REVIEW OF THE AIR FORCE EVALUATION: On 30 Oct 2012, a copy of the Air Force evaluation was forwarded to the applicant for review and comment within 30 days. As of this date, no response has been received by this office (Exhibit C). ________________________________________________________________ THE BOARD CONCLUDES THAT: 1. The applicant has exhausted all remedies provided by existing law or regulations. 2. The application was timely filed. 3. Sufficient relevant evidence has been presented to demonstrate the existence of an error or injustice warranting partial relief. After thoroughly reviewing the evidence of record and noting the applicant’s contention, we agree with the recommendation of DPSIM that since a medical evaluation determined that she should have been exempt from the cardio and sit-up components of the contested FA, her records should be corrected to show that she was exempt from these components. While the applicant requests the entire FA be removed, in the absence of evidence that she should have been exempt from either the entire FA or other components and noting that her overall composite score will increase to 95.33 percent (Excellent), we believe our recommended corrective action will provide her full and fitting relief. Accordingly, we recommend her records be corrected to the extent indicated below. ________________________________________________________________ THE BOARD RECOMMENDS THAT: The pertinent military records of the Department of the Air Force relating to APPLICANT, be corrected to show that the cardio and sit-up components of her FA dated 28 Jun 2012, be amended to reflect “exempt” in the AFFMS. ________________________________________________________________ The following members of the Board considered this application in Executive Session on 30 Apr 2013, under the provisions of AFI 36-2603: Panel Chair Member Member All members voted to correct the record as recommended.
