Military Personnel Records and advisory opinions (if any). THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE: 1. The applicant requests, in effect, reconsideration of his previous request that the Bronze Star Medal (BSM) be added to his DD 214 (Armed Forces of the United States report of Transfer or Discharge). 2. The applicant states, in effect, that he has orders, dated 2 February 1970, showing that he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. He also states he would like to leave his Vietnam Combat awards to his children and grandchildren as his legacy of service to his country. 3. The applicant provides Department of the Army General Orders Number 877, Award Certificate for the Bronze Star Medal, a self-authored letter, a photocopy of pictures, and a witness letter in support of this application. CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE: 1. Incorporated herein by reference are military records which were summarized in the previous consideration of the applicant's case by the Army Board for Correction of Military Records (ABCMR) in Docket Number AR20070011507 on 17 January 2008. 2. The applicant provides General Orders Number 877, dated 2 February 1970, awarding him the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service in connection with ground operations against a hostile force in the Republic of Vietnam from 1969 to 31 December 1969 which was not previously reviewed by the ABCMR; therefore, it is considered new evidence and as such warrants consideration by the Board. 3. The Bronze Star Medal is listed on the applicant’s DA Form 20 (Enlisted Qualification Record) in Item 41 (Awards and Decorations). 4. General orders awarded the applicant the Bronze Star Medal. Therefore, he is entitled to have his records corrected to show this award. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS: The orders show the applicant was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service in the Republic of Vietnam from 1 March 1969 to 31 December 1969. Therefore, he is entitled to have his records corrected to show this award on his DD Form 214.
