THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE: 1. The applicant requests correction of his DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty), dated 3 April 2009, to show he had 1 year, 3 months, and 16 days of foreign service. 2. The applicant states his DD Form 214, dated 9 June 2007, shows he had 1 year, 3 months, and 16 days of foreign service. 3. The applicant provides copies of his DD Forms 214. CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE: 1. The applicant enlisted in the Regular Army on 10 June 2003. He completed training as a health care specialist. He was deployed to Iraq effective 15 August 2005. 2. The applicant redeployed on 1 December 2006. He enlisted in the Army National Guard (ARNG) to be effective upon his release from active duty (REFRAD). He was honorably REFRAD on 9 June 2007, due to completion of required active service. 3. Item 12f (Foreign Service) on his DD Form 214 shows he completed 1 year, 3 months, and 16 days of foreign service. 4. The applicant was ordered to active duty for training effective 10 February 2008. He was REFRAD on 3 April 2009, due to completion of required active service. 5. Item 12f on his DD Form 214 shows he had 0000 years, 00 months, and 00 days of foreign service. 6. Army Regulation 635-5 (Separation Documents), paragraph 2-4, provides instructions for the completion of items that appear on the DD Form 214. Instructions for the completion of Item 12f shows the amount of foreign service completed during the period covered by the DD Form 214 should be taken from the Enlisted Record Brief. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS: 1. The applicant's contentions have been noted. 2. The applicant's DD Form 214 does not show he completed any foreign service during the period covered by his DD Form 214 dated 3 April 2009. 3. His records show he had service in Iraq from 15 August 2005 through 1 December 2006. His foreign service is properly shown in item 12f on his DD Form 214 dated 9 June 2007. 4. In view of the foregoing, his request should be denied.
