IN THE CASE OF: BOARD DATE: 20 Mar 2012 DOCKET NUMBER: AR20110018312 THE BOARD CONSIDERED THE FOLLOWING EVIDENCE: 1. Application for correction of military records (with supporting documents provided, if any). 2. Military Personnel Records and advisory opinions (if any). THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE: 1. The applicant requests reconsideration of his earlier request for correction of his DD Form 214 (Armed Forces of the United States Report of Transfer or Discharge) to show award of the Bronze Star Medal. 2. He states this Board found the evidence previously submitted was insufficient to grant award of the Bronze Star Medal to be added to his DD Form 214. This finding of the Board was due to the lack of official orders awarding him the Bronze Star Medal. He found a copy of his orders while looking through old military and nonmilitary papers. 3. He provides general orders for award of the Bronze Star Medal. CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE: 1. Incorporated herein by reference are military records which were summarized in the previous consideration of the applicant's case by the Army Board for Correction of Military Records (ABCMR) in Docket Number AR20110002927 on 9 August 2011. 2. The applicant provided new evidence that will be considered by the Board. 3. The applicant was inducted into the Army of the United States on 30 August 1966. He served in Vietnam with Company A, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiment, 199th Light Infantry Brigade, from 10 February 1967 to 4 February 1968. 4. He was honorably released from active duty on 8 August 1968 and was transferred to the U.S. Army Reserve Control Group (Annual Training) to complete his remaining service obligation. 5. Item 24 (Decorations, Medals, Badges, Commendations, Citations, and Campaign Ribbons Awarded or Authorized) of his DD Form 214, later corrected by a DD Form 215, does not show award of the Bronze Star Medal. 6. Headquarters, 199th Infantry Brigade, General Orders Number 1135, dated 14 September 1968, awarded him the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service for the period February 1967 to February 1968. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS: General orders show the applicant was awarded the Bronze Star Medal; therefore, this medal should be added to his DD Form 214.
