IN THE CASE OF: BOARD DATE: 25 September 2014 DOCKET NUMBER: AR20140015680 THE BOARD CONSIDERED THE FOLLOWING EVIDENCE: 1. Application for correction of military records (with supporting documents provided, if any). 2. Military Personnel Records and advisory opinions (if any). THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE: 1. The applicant requests correction of his DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty) for the period ending 16 December 2013 to show he was twice awarded the Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon. 2. The applicant states he didn't have both memoranda awarding him this ribbon at the time he was released from active duty. 3. The applicant provides his DD Form 214 and two memoranda. CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE: 1. The applicant was serving as a specialist in the U.S. Army Reserve (USAR) when he entered active duty on 10 January 2013 as a member of his USAR unit in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). 2. He served in Kuwait from 13 February to 8 November 2013 and he was honorably released from active duty on 16 December 2013. The DD Form 214 he was issued for this period of service shows, in part, the Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon. 3. He provides two memoranda issued by the 266th Ordnance Company, Aguadilla, PR, as follows: a. A memorandum, dated 1 August 2011, wherein it shows he was awarded the Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon for the period 9 to 30 July 2011 while in the performance of duty in Operation Overseas Deployment Training (ODT), Germany. b. A memorandum, dated 13 May 2012, wherein it shows he was awarded the Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon (2nd Award) for the period 21 April to 12 May 2012 while in the performance of duty in Operation ODT, Germany. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS: The applicant provided documentation that shows he was twice awarded the Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon prior to his release from active duty on 16 December 2013. Therefore, it would be appropriate to correct his DD Form 214 for this period of service accordingly.
