APPLICANT’S SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS CONSIDERED BY THE BOARD: * DD Form 149 (Application for Correction of Military Record), dated 21 July 2016 * Orders 69-57, dated 10 March 2010 * Diploma for the Sniper Course, dated 19 March 2010 FACTS: 1. The applicant states, in effect: * his DD Form 214 states that his Sniper School was only a 4-week course * he attended the full 5 week course * he graduated with his B4 identifier * his peers who attended the same course DD Forms 214 reflect the full 5-week course * employers question the credibility of his DD Form 214 because of this error 2. A review of the applicant’s service records shows: * he enlisted Regular Army on 31 October 2006 * he held military occupational specialty 11B (Infantryman) * he was honorably released from active duty on 2 January 2015 3. His DD Form 214, item 14 (Military Education) shows, "Sniper, 4 Weeks, 2010" 4. The applicant provides: * Orders 69-57, dated 10 March 2010, shows the applicant was awarded the additional skill identifier B4, effective 18 March 2010 on completion of Sniper training * Diploma for the Sniper Course, dated 19 March 2010, shows he successfully completed the Sniper Course in 2010 5. Army Regulation (AR) 635-5 (Separation Documents), in effect at the time, states for item 14, list formal in-service (full-time attendance) training courses successfully completed during the period of service covered by the DD Form 214. Include title, length in weeks, and year completed. 6. Department of the Army (DA) Pamphlet 351-4 (U.S. Army Formal Schools Catalog) Table 3-24 shows that the prerequisite to attend the Sniper Course is active duty or reserve Soldiers with the 11B or 11M MOS or career management field 18 in the rank of private first class (PFC) through sergeant first class (SFC). The length of the course is 5 weeks. BOARD DISCUSSION: The preponderance of evidence to include Orders 69-57, dated 10 March 2010 and the applicant’s diploma for the Sniper Course, dated 19 March 2010 show the applicant attended the Sniper course. DA Pamphlet 351-4 confirms the Sniper course length is 5 weeks.
