APPLICANT'S SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS CONSIDERED BY THE BOARD: .DD Form 149 (Application for Correction of Military Record) .DD Form 214 .Orders 087-0007, dated 28 March 2017 FACTS: 1.The applicant states, in effect, he wants item 11 of his DD Form 214 to show heserved in his MOS for 11 years and 7 months, the full period of his active duty service. 2.The applicant's DD Form 214 for the period 10 November 2005 through 21 June2017 contains the following entries: .Item 11: "91X4O MAINTENANCE SUPERVISO – 11 YRS 2 MOS" .Item12c (Net Active Service this Period): 11 years, 7 months, 12 days 3.Army Regulation 635-5 (Separation Documents) stated the primary specialty will betaken from the ERB). The entry should include the titles for all MOS in which theservice member served for at least 1 year, and include the number of years and monthsserved. 4.His ERB shows he was assigned as a trainee (basic combat training (BCT) andadvanced individual training (AIT) from 16 November 2005 to 30 September 2006, aperiod of approximately seven months. He would have been awarded his MOS uponcompletion of AIT. 5.After initial training, he was assigned to the following units in MOS 91 (FieldMechanical Maintenance) for a total period of 10 years, 8 month, and 21 days (based on the on the first date of his first duty assignment (1 October 2006) through his date of discharge (21 June 2017)): .Headquarters and Headquarters Command (HHC), 508th Special TroopsBattalion, (STB), 82nd Airborne Division from 1 October 2006 to 14 March 2013 .Headquarters and Headquarters Battery (HHB) 2nd Battalion, 377th ParachuteField Artillery Regiment from 15 March 2013 to 30 May 2016 .HHB Field Artillery Brigade from 31 May 2016 to 6 June 2016 .Combat Support Company Forward Support Company from 7 June 2016 to 10 August 2016 .Airborne Brigade Replenishment from 11 August 2016 to 5 September 2016 .HHC Combat Sustainment from 6 September 2016 to 31 May 2017 .Combat Support Rear Detachment from 1 June 2017 to 21 June 2017 6.The applicant provides Orders 087-0007, shows he completed 11 years, 7 months,and 12 days of total active duty service.BOARD DISCUSSION: After reviewing the application and all supporting evidence, the Board determined that relief was not warranted. A service member receives an MOS upon graduation fromAIT; thus the dates reflected on his DD214 appear to be correct and no injustice is present. REFERENCES 1.Title 10, U.S. Code, section 1552(b), provides that applications for correction ofmilitary records must be filed within 3 years after discovery of the alleged error orinjustice. This provision of law also allows the Army Board for Correction of MilitaryRecords (ABCMR) to excuse an applicant's failure to timely file within the 3-year statuteof limitations if the ABCMR determines it would be in the interest of justice to do so. 2.Army Regulation 635-5 (Separation Documents), in effect at the time, establishedthe standardized policy for preparing and distributing the DD Form 214. Chapter 2contains guidance for preparation of the DD Form 214. It states the primary specialtywill be taken from the Enlisted Record Brief. The entry should include the titles for allMOS in which the service member served for at least 1 year, and include the number ofyears and months served.
