He was commissioned on active duty 4 June 2013; however, it states he wascommissioned on 2 March 2014 which leads to an error in the total service time. Herequested the corrections previously and was given an updated worksheet; however,the final copy contained the incorrect information. 2.The applicant provides: a.The below documents to be addressed with the service record: .Orders 067-088-A-1494 dated 8 March 2013 .DD Form 214 b.A Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty Worksheet highlighted inBlock 12a (Date Entered Active Duty This Period) the date 5 June 2013 with a handwritten note which states “correct.” c.An illegible printout from HRCApps. 3.A review of the applicant’s service record shows: a.He enlisted as a Cadet in the U.S. Army Reserve on 24 July 2009. b.Orders 067-088-A-1494, dated 8 March 2013, ordered the applicant to activeduty for a total active duty commitment of 4 years with the following directed: .he will enter active duty on 5 June 2013 .temporary duty at the Leader Development and Assessment Courts (LDAC)from 5 June 2013 to 31 August 2013 .upon completion of LDAC, report to Ft. Lee, VA 1 September 2013 to beutilized by the installation commander until the start of BOLC-B .BOLC-B report date 22 September 2013 .assigned to U.S. Army Transportation School with a reporting date of 2 March2014 c.On 15 May 2013, he was appointed as a Reserve commissioned officer. d.Orders 135-85, dated 15 May 2013, discharged the applicant from the ReserveOfficers’ Training Corps (ROTC) Cadet program to accept commission in the U.S. Armed Forces. e.He executed an oath of office on 5 June 2013. f.His Officer Record Brief (ORB) shows his Basic Active Service Date (BASD) as 5June 2013. It also shows his Entry to Active Duty (EAD) for Current Tour as 5 June 2013. g.Orders 055-0208, dated 24 February 2020, released the applicant from activeduty with an effective date of 5 June 2020. h.He was honorably released from active duty on 5 June 2020. His DD Form 214shows he completed 6 years, 3 months, and 4 days of active duty. It also shows in Block 12a, “2014 03 02.” With the correction the applicant is requesting, Block 12c (Net Active Service This Period) would reflect 7 years and 1 day. 5.By regulation (AR 635-8), the DD Form 214 is a summary of the Soldier's mostrecent period of continuous active duty. It provides a brief, clear-cut record of all currentactive, prior active, and prior inactive duty service at the time of release from activeduty, retirement, or discharge. The information entered thereon reflects the conditionsas they existed at the time of separation. Block 12a (Date Entered Active Duty ThisPeriod) the data sources are enlistment contract(s), initial order to active duty, activeduty order, previously issued DD Form 214, DA Form 1506 (Statement of Service – ForComputation of Length of Service for Pay Purposes), and a complete review of theSoldier’s official record. BOARD DISCUSSION: After reviewing the application, all supporting documents, and the evidence found within the military record, the Board found that relief was warranted. The applicant’s contentions, the military record, and regulatory guidance were carefully considered. Evidence of record shows he entered the period of active duty on 5 June 2013. The Board agreed there is sufficient evidence that shows the date on his DD Form 214 is incorrect.
