The applicant states her tour was in support of Operation Inherent Resolve in Kirkuk, Iraq. She departed for deployment on 3 January 2019 and returned from deployment on 9 August 2019. She completed 7 month and 6-day of foreign service. 2. The applicant enlisted in the Regular Army on 8 May 2018. She completed training and she was awarded military occupational specialty 56M (Religious Support). 3. The applicant provides a copy of her Temporary Change of Station orders which shows she was to deploy in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, Iraq for a period not to exceed 280 days, effective 3 January 2019. 4. On 3 January 2022, she retired honorably due to temporary disability. The DD Form 214 she was issued does not show any foreign service in block 12f (Foreign Service) nor does it refer to foreign/deployed service in item 18 (Remarks). The form further shows she was awarded or authorized the: . Army Achievement Medal . Army Good Conduct Medal . National Defense Service Medal . Global War on Terrorism Service Medal . During the processing of this case, the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) reviewed her Master Military Pay Account, which verified her service in Iraq from 6 January 2019 to 21 August 2019 (a period of 7 months and 16 days). Note: DFAS only verifies receipt of hostile fire/imminent danger pay. DFAS does not verify inclusive dates of deployed service or deployment locations beyond the first qualifying country (e.g., Kuwait versus Iraq). DFAS pay records are not considered "source documents," but may be considered as supporting documents leading to a preponderance of the evidence. A second source document is required. 6. Army Regulation 635-8 (Separation and Processing and Documents), establishes the standardized policy for preparing and distributing the DD Form 214. Chapter 5 contains guidance on the preparation of the DD Form 214, to include entering foreign service and remarks pertaining to deployment locations and through dates. BOARD DISCUSSION: After reviewing the application, all supporting documents, and the evidence found within the military record, the Board found that relief was/was not warranted. The Board carefully considered the applicant’s contentions, the military record, and regulatory guidance. The Board considered supporting orders, awards received and Army Master Military Pay Account documentation showing hostile fire/imminent danger pay for the period requested. Based on the preponderance of the documentation available for review the Board determined the evidence presented sufficient to warrant a recommendation for relief.
