The Board utilized available information contained in electronic records and documents submitted by the applicant. The applicant admitted to using Vicodin that was not prescribed by a doctor. In a unit urinalysis, the applicant provided a sample that came back as positive for Hydrocodone and Hydromorphone far beyond the minimum threshold to trigger a positive result. Pursuant to policy, the applicant was recommended for separation due to a drug incident. The Board finds no issues with propriety or equity in this case. The applicant was notified of the intent to discharge, and the applicant was advised of the right to an attorney. A statement was made, but the applicant did not object to the discharge. Coast Guard policy prescribes no higher than a General, Under Honorable Conditions character of service for individuals separated as a result of violating the Coast Guard's drug policy.
