EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

The applicant was discharged for due to Involvement with Drugs in the Spring of 2005.

The Board finds no issues with propriety or equity in this case. No new evidence has been provided by the 
applicant.

Coast Guard policy prescribes no higher than a General, Under Honorable Conditions character of service for 
individuals separated as a result of violating the Coast Guard's drug policy. The Coast Guard has zero 
tolerance for drug abuse. The General, Under Honorable Conditions discharge is equitable.

Additionally, the Board noticed that the applicant was issued a General Discharge in Block 24 of the DD-214 
for character of service. Per ALCOAST 562/08, the Board recommends that this is administratively corrected to 
Under Honorable Conditions. The General discharge is correct, but is not a valid character of service entry for 
Block 24.

Propriety:	Discharge was proper.
Equity:	Discharge was equitable.
Final Adjudication by Assistant Commandant for Human Resources: Concur with Board. Applicant's 
Character of Service has recently been amended via admin correction to Under Honorable Conditions based on 
ALCOAST 562/08. Aside from this completed change, no relief.
