I DRB DIGEST/E XECUT IVE SUMMARY DRB DOCKET 2016-031 NAME E-4 CURRENT DD-214 Honorable, COMDTINST MI000.4, ART 1-B-15, JFY, Adjustment Disorder, RE3 RELIEF REQUESTED Change Narrative RELIEF GRANTED BYDRB None ADMIN CORRECTIONS None TIS 5 yrs, 5 months, 18 days · Policy Implications None EXECUT IVE SUMMARY: The applicant was discharged on December 30, 2015, with a Honorable discharge due to Adjustment Disorder. The applicant attempted to get a second opinion with a master' s level clinical social worker to render the applicant as fit for full duty and to be retained in the service. The second finding does not override the previous diagnosis of Adjustment disorder by two licensed and certified Doctoral level, DoD mental health specialists. The board recommends that the RE3 reentry code be kept intact due to the applicant' s inability to function normally without causing burden to the command, or the lack of conformity to commonly expected military rules and regulations. An RE3 reentry code is not an affirmative recommendation for reenlistment, rather it represents that the applicant is not recommended for reenlistment due to a disqualifying factor. The RE3 code may be waived based upon the policies and needs of the gaining Service. The applicant was notified of the intent to discharge, and the applicant was advised of the right to an attorney. The applicant made a statement on their behalf and objected to the discharge. The Board finds no issues with propriety or equity in this case. Propriety: Discharge was proper. Equity: Discharge was equitable. Final Adjudication By Assistant Commandant for Human Resources: Concur with Board. No relief.
