1. Pursuant to the provisions ofreference (a) Subject, hereinafter referred to as Petitioner, filed 
enclosure (I) with this Board requesting, in effect, that the applicable naval record be corrected 
to establish entitlement to a FY 18 Special Duty Assignment (SDA) Reenlistment kicker. 

2. The Board, consisting of                                          , reviewed Petitioner's 
allegations of error and injustice on 29 June 201 8 and, pursuant to its regulations, determined 
that the corrective action indicated below should be taken on the available evidence of record. 
Documentary material considered by the Board consisted ofthe enclosures, relevant portions of 
Petitioner's naval record, and applicable statutes, regulations and policies. 

3. The Board, having reviewed all the facts ofrecord pertaining to Petitioner's allegations of 
error and injustice, finds as follows: 

a. Before applying to this Board, Petitioner exhausted all administrative remedies available 
under existing law and regulations within the Department of the Navy.
 
b. In correspondence attached as enclosure (2), the office having cognizance over the subject 
matter addressed in Petitioner' s application has commented to the effect that the request has 
merit and warrants favorable action. 

CONCLUSION 

Upon review and consideration of all the evidence ofrecord, and especially in light ofthe 
contents of enclosure (2), the Board finds the existence of an injustice warranting the following 
corrective action: Petitioner's SDN reenlistment request was approved by Headquarters, U.S. 
Marine Corps on 4 October 2017; however, due to an administrative oversight, Petitioner's 
request was approved without the FY 2018 SDA reenlistment kicker. 

That Petitioner's naval record be corrected, where appropriate, to show that: 

The enlistment/reenlistment document (DD Form 4) executed on 14 October 2017 is for a term 
of4 years and 1 month, vice 4 years. 

This change, upon completion of Initial Free Military Occupational Specialty (FMOS) of8411 
training, will entitle the member to a Special Duty Assignment (SDA) Kicker of$20,000. 

A copy of this Report of Proceedings will be filed in Petitioner's naval record.
